Torx Thread Forming Screws

Torx Thread Forming Screws are often misunderstood by many people. Some people think that a Self-Tapping Screw is a Thread Forming Screw, but we have limited the Thread Forming Screw on this web site to the THREAD ROLLING SCREW variety, where the threads are rolled onto the screw and there are no material chips left over like that of the Thread Cutting Screw.

Torx screws comes with a Torx recess sizes that are standard between INCH size screws and METRIC screws. Generally the smaller sizes are t6 and t5 Torx screws and larger sizes are t25 and t20 Torx screws.

Torx® Thread Forming Screws and High-Performance Thread Rolling Screws, roll-form a clean, strong thread, yet these screws do not cut metal, and therefore leave no metal chips. Excellent for use in electrical assemblies where metal chips would cause shorts, or in deep blind holes where metal chips in the hole would prevent proper seating. May also be used in thin sheet metal where thread cutting action would weaken the walls of punch-extruded holes.

High-Performance Thread Rolling Screws drive easier than other thread forming screws, and with uniform torque. You can drive them into tougher material, deeper holes, and faster, with less tool wear. They are self locking and vibration resistant along the entire length of the thread.

They are generally made of case hardened steel, zinc plated and waxed although there are some that are made of hardened 410 stainless steel. They come in pan head and flat head.
